Port of Guangzhou in China Opens Direct Route to Brazil
Guangzhou Port, located in southern China’s Guangdong province, has established a direct connection with Brazil by launching its first regular shipping route. A cargo ship, full of goods destined for Brazil, departed last Monday (11) marking this important milestone.
This new route is the fifth launched by the Port of Guangzhou for BRICS countries, a group made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, this year. The ship carries 592 20-foot container equivalent units (TEUs), including passenger vehicles, construction machinery and electrical equipment, bound for the Port of Santos, Brazil’s largest port.
One of the main advantages of this route is the significant reduction in transport time to Brazil, decreasing by at least five days compared to previous routes. Furthermore, this new route promises to reduce logistics costs for companies involved in import and export.
Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, operator of this route, plans to deploy a fleet of at least eight multipurpose ships. Initially, they will operate once every two weeks, ensuring stability and offering direct transport services for import and export.
An additional distinguishing feature of these vessels is the presence of sockets for refrigerated containers, allowing the safe transport of high-quality cold chain products, such as fruit and meat, from South America to Guangzhou.
With this new direct route, the Port of Guangzhou further strengthens its commercial ties with Brazil, providing efficiency and opportunities for companies looking for a direct connection between these two important markets.
