Foreign Trade Day: Connecting Brazil to the World

Today, January 28, we celebrate Foreign Trade Day in Brazil, a date of historical significance and strategic relevance for our country and the business community.
This date marks one of the most important moments in our country’s economic history. In 1808, then Prince Regent Dom João VI signed the Decree on the Opening of the Ports to Friendly Nations, allowing Brazil to expand its participation in international trade, something that had previously been restricted under the colonial system.
This milestone not only authorized the entry and exit of goods between Brazil and other nations, but also marked the beginning of a trajectory that would transform our economy, opening doors for producers, industries, and entrepreneurs to look beyond national borders.
Since then, Foreign Trade has evolved from a historical concept into one of the pillars of the economy. It involves every aspect of a company’s or a country’s integration into the global market: from the analysis of foreign markets to the logistics that ensure products and services reach their destinations efficiently and securely.
More than numbers and processes, Foreign Trade is driven by professionals who do not merely move cargo and documents, but who move relationships, partnerships, and economic growth. For this reason, today is a day to recognize those who work daily to place Brazil on the global trade map.
On this January 28, we celebrate everyone who makes foreign trade a bridge between companies, countries, and opportunities. May we continue to strengthen international integration and drive new achievements in global commerce.
