GRU Airport Announces Measures to Optimize Cargo Flow Due to Increased Demand

GRU Airport will implement new measures to adjust cargo flow in the terminal, responding to a significant increase in cargo volume and recommendations to address this situation. Here are the main actions:

  • Temporary Suspension of International Dry Cargo: In coordination with airlines, GRU Airport will suspend the reception of international dry cargo from 12:01 AM on Thursday (7) until 11:59 PM on Monday (11). During this period, only perishable goods, pharmaceuticals, COMAT, and live animals will be accepted.

  • Separation of E-commerce and International Transit Cargo: To streamline processes, these cargo types will be sent directly to their destinations without passing through the airport’s Cargo Terminal (TECA), ensuring smoother flow.

  • Expansion of Storage Facilities: Two new storage spaces have been added exclusively for the storage and delivery of imported dry cargo, increasing the terminal’s capacity.

  • Discounts on Import Storage Fees: To encourage faster pickup, a 20% discount on storage fees will be offered for cargo collected on Saturdays, and a 40% discount for cargo collected on Sundays and holidays, valid from November 9 to 30.
